In my studio I concentrate on healthful singing. My goal is to help the student to find joy, freedom and personal expression in singing and speaking - and to keep the student's unique individuality as a singer.
I work with students to build a healthy technique for singing jazz, blues, musical theater, professional speaking and many other vocal styles.
Teaching is about listening, patience, understanding and a two-way communication with the student. It is exhilarating to be a part of the student’s growing awareness of their body and voice, and to see them achieve their vocal goals!
Music is the elixir of life!
Together we will work on body alignment, breath management and vocal exercises specifically for your needs. Focusing vocal exercises on what your voice is doing, how it functions. Functional technique is the key to achieving the ability to sing with ease, to seamlessly move through the chest and head registers.
The tools and concepts of Somatic Voicework™ provide a clear understanding of the body, the physiology of what is happening in the larynx, as well as a coherent language to communicate healthy singing and care of the voice.
Whether you are preparing for an upcoming gig, recording, musical theater performance, choir solo, or would like to further explore your expression through singing, we can work together to help you achieve your goals!
I work with students of all levels from ages 9 to 90.
Studio locations are in mid-town Manhattan; South Midwood, Brooklyn, as well as through Skype.
