Fig Tree Release
Thank you for visiting my new web site! The making of Fig Tree has been a really rich journey that has led me to meet many amazing and talented people.
Music is the elxir of life and I feel that in motion each and every day. There are so many challenging and difficult issues going on in our world and music is here to help us humans get through. Smile, laugh, cry, shout, jump around - move our bodies and get the blood flowing. Music helps me get out of myself and into the vibrant world around me! Something I learned early on was that we’ve got to listen and then listen and listen some more to those who have come before us and to our contemporaries in music. It brings inspiration, challenge, new repetoire, a discerning ear - the list is endless. And best of all is physically going to concerts to be a part of the happening in real time. There’s nothing like it.
Living here in New York City it’s just incredible in terms of the hot bed of world class musicians that you can hear every day of the week! I am a huge fan of jazz saxophonist David Leibman, Hammond B3 organ master Dr. Lonnie Smith, jazz pianist Omar Sosa, jazz pianist Randy Weston, guitarist Mike Stern, jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan, jazz vocalist Jay Clayton and so many more and they can be heard in big and small venues - most of them affordable. So go out there and support live music!
Speaking of going out to hear live music - my Fig Tree CD Release Gig is on Saturday, May 18, 7pm at Somethin’ Jazz Club in NYC!!! We are going to have an extra special good time and would love to have you there to celebrate with us!
